Day 131

JANUARY 9, 2020

SEA DAY

Woke early, still dark due to time change. The ship was reasonably steady despite the three-metre swells. Walking the deck I saw six crew hosing and swabbing the deck and washing salt off the windows and walls. Then I found a new stunned bird - same one as yesterday? Not likely, this one was on the opposite side of the ship. I tried to feed it chia, but no dice. It stood up and tried repeatedly to fly into the wall, which was painted white and it probably figured that it was the sky. Maybe when the sun rises the bird will see the real sky.

Continuing my walk I also found two flying fish on deck. What the heck are they doing here, the deck is 20 feet above the water? Another learning experience.

After showering I went back to photo the bird and fish but they were gone.

In addition to baby caps for babies in India, Karen's knitting ladies are also busily knitting pouches for orphaned joeys (baby kangaroos) as a result of the Aussie fires. So, what does a joey pouch you might well ask? Take a look, it's about the size of a letter, 8.5 X 11 inches (the baby koala baby pouches are somewhat larger):

Possibly the best western mini series ever to appear on television was "Lonesome Dove" in 1989. It  starred Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Urich, Dianne Lane, Angela Huston, Ricky Schroder, Danny Glover, Chris Cooper, Timothy Scott and Steve Buscemi. The composer of the theme music is Basil Poledouris, the same gent who gave us Conan the Barbarian, Hunt for Red October, Free Willy and Robocop ...... among others.
