Day 135

JANUARY 13, 2020

SEA DAY

My highlight of the day occurred at the duplicate bridge game. Martyn, a whist player from England, and I had not played together as a team before, so we gave it a try. Both of us are learning (or re-learning) bridge on this trip. Behold! We came in first place among the ten pairs. Beginners luck? Certainly a possibility.

Before dinner the 53 world and 150 or so half-world cruisers were invited to the Star Theatre for cocktails. There, management encouraged everyone to meet-and-greet your fellow cruisers, particularly those who joined the ship in L.A. And, during all this time music and singing was taking place on stage at 100 decibels. Rather than shouting over the cacophony, most everyone left the theatre in dismay. Who's great idea was that event?

What is the most appropriate song for a day at sea? Well, of course it's "Sea of Love" originally by Phil Phillips. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_T8PHEAHOBs

Or, would you prefer the version by The Honeydrippers?
