Precruise

August 28-29, 2019

Before we left home our fellow Gyros wished us bon voyage with a cake:

So here we are leaving Victoria which, incidentally, is ranked by Condé Nast as One of the Top Ten Cities in the World. We are eager to get underway.

After flying Victoria-Seattle-London via British Airways (sheer luxury in business class on the cozy top floor of the Boeing 747), Karen and I decided to spend a couple of days in London before the cruise begins. We stayed at the Conrad London St James near Westminster Abbey and the Parliament Buildings. Naturally, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to see "Come From Away" which was playing at the Phoenix Theatre. It is truly a "must see" event - the critics loved it and the audience loved it! Standing ovations!!

  1. So glad that you enjoyed Come from Away. We saw it in the Phoenix in May and made us proud to be Canadians. The acting was superb.
