Day 148
JANUARY 26, 2020
SEA DAY
There is a game on this ship called Baggo. It's just tossing bean bags through a hole on a slanted board - you probably played is as a kid. Well, it is serious business here as the senior managers, and I mean the four-stripers, compete against the guests each morning. It is also a source of pranks. Yesterday morning, while a couple of guests were playing Baggo, their room was altered. The bed was taken out, leaving the mattress on the floor and their baggage lined up against the far wall. On the bed there was an official looking note stating, "As you know, Viking strives to ensure that the safety and comfort of our guests is foremost. With this in mind, we have made a few adjustments to your room for your wellbeing which we trust you will appreciate. The Management" True.
Speaking of safety, we are assured by senior staff that the Viking Sun's front will not fall off (unlike some other ships). See for yourself:

A few days ago we happened to stop by the laundry with friends who had not seen it previously. Shibu, the Laundry Manager gave us a memento:
Notice that most of the staff are Filipinos.
Our guest at dinner this evening was Juliette Primrose, a virtuoso fiddle-player who will be starring at the Star Theatre tomorrow evening. BTW a fiddle and a violin are the same instrument. A violin is called a fiddle when playing folk music.
Ennio Morricone's genius is evident. But not all his works are well known. Listen and watch "Malena".

BTW - The date in RED at the top of this page is the date that Karen and I are experiencing. Above that is the date in grey (New York time) that I put to bed (publish) this blog.
