Day 94
DECEMBER 3, 2019
CRUISING CHILEAN FJORDS
There were several albatrosses flying off the aft deck this morning. Wonderful birds, seldom flap their wings, they glide almost perpetually. Eleven foot wingspan.
It's December, so, naturally, the Viking staff are decorating the ship for Christmas. This is the atrium stairs, not particularly fancy..... but wait! In the coming days, it gets better.
BTW, shortly after this picture was taken, the Viking photographer arranged about 200 of us half- and whole-world cruisers on the steps for a memorable photo.
This evening we saw Greg Moreland magician/comedian at the Star Theatre, actually more comedian than magician - hilarious!
As you know, this ship is full of older folks. Sea days give people time to recollect on the past and contemplate the future. Given those factors, the following song by Glenn Campbell seems appropriate for us all - "Yesterday When I was Young".

Hi John,
ReplyDeleteA recent friend of ours in the Toastmaster's club we belong to, will be boarding your ship in Valparaiso. His wife Ann, is a speaker and will be giving 8 talks while on their way to Los Angeles.
She is a very accomplished Naturalist speaker and is in high demand with various cruise lines.
We hope you and Karen enjoy her presentations. Tom, her husband, whom we know a little bit, is a very nice man. They have travelled extensively around the world.
Have a great Christmas!
Shawn and Molly
Howdy,
ReplyDeleteJust a word of caution if you're doing a walkabout in Valparaiso - there were several unsavory characters watching us intently. We had taken the short train ride from Vina Del Mar to Valparaiso - in very short order, we were back on the train (ie. getting out of Dodge pronto). Cliff
