Day 93

DECEMBER 2, 2019

CRUISING CHILEAN FJORDS

The day began as a cold, foggy morning interspersed with rain. Everyone was happy to have a sea day offering plenty of time to read their novels, do sudoku and/or crossword puzzles or go to the spa for a hot tub/sauna. Maybe have a cocktail later.

Our ship is on its way to the Amalia Glacier. But when we get there, the clouds had descended almost to the water line and only the base ice was visible. Camera shutters were noticeably silent. However, if you really want to see what us passengers missed, check out this video of the Amalia Glacier in good weather:

Karen's knitting class instructor, Beverly Walker, hosted a dinner for several knitters at The Restaurant. That was a very thoughtful gesture and much appreciated by all.

In 1980 Vangelis (who in 1981 composed "Chariots of Fire") was commissioned to compose the theme music for a TV program whose material would encompass the entire universe, quite a task. The program was titled,  "Cosmos".

Carl Sagan hosted Cosmos and subsequently produced a short video, "A Pale Blue Dot". This is arguably the most profound message ever spoken about mankind!
