Day 6
September 5, 2019
England has no kidney bank, but it does have a Liverpool.
Yes, The Beatles are the main attraction here - Beatles shops everywhere.
But, Liverpudlians also love their football clubs too.
Getting off the ship you meet the friendliest volunteer greeters in England - so say their annual awards selected by cruise critics. The dockside area is a delight. It has been completely overhauled and is now reminiscent of Toronto's waterfront - museums, eateries and amusements - the new normal!
As with the rest of England, admission to museums and galleries in Liverpool is free. But the Tate Gallery, coat tailing on its London parent, disappoints; not recommended. Instead visit the Walker Art Gallery, if you care.
If you are a shopper, as an extension of the waterfront development, there are blocks and blocks of car free esplanades associated with the massive Liverpool One shopping area re-development north of the waterfront - just follow the crowds. Quite impressive.
One of the most visited streets in Liverpool is Penny Lane. Don't google Penny Lane, as I did, in order to see the actual street. Instead. continue to live with the fantasy that the song conjured up in you mind so long, long ago. Recall its siren memories:
