Day 3
September 2, 2019
Our first stop is Dover, 21 miles from Europe – lots of chalk but no blackboards. You can
see France easily.
We chose to motor to Canterbury whose Cathedral was built in 597, over 1400
years ago!

Quaint town with many ageless cobblestone roads and indestructible walls made of flint (1500 years old and they look like new).
Tons of history - stories about Angle, Saxon and Norman invasions, Julius Caesar's time here, Thomas Becket's assassination, pilgrims, Henry VIII's birth, etc. Town protected by a massive castle constructed by Henry II to defend Britannia from invaders. Very pleasant on a warm sunny day.
