Day 7
At sea, weather is always a fickle factor. Today, although we were scheduled to stop at Holyhead, Wales, Captain Olaf chose to avoid potentially rough seas and redirected the Viking Sun to Greenock on the Firth of Clyde, near Glasgow.
At one time the Clyde area was the major shipbuilding centre of Great Britain. As with all things, ships eventually die too. Mark Knopfler describes this event succinctly:

As we got off the ship we were greeted by a skirling bagpiper.
So, instead of a much-anticipated day trip on a steam-powered train of the Ffestiniog Railway through the shimmering Welsh countryside, we rescheduled to take a short boat ride on Loch Lomond in the rain. Spit happens.
Fortunately there are endless diversions of the Viking Sun - movies, snacks, dining, coffee bars, wine bars, lectures, puzzles, games, snacks, gym, spa, pools, hot tubs, deck walks, stores, TV, wifi, .... did I mentions snacks?
Never too late........
