Day 32
October 1, 2019
SAGUENAY, QUEBEC (again)
When we were in Saguenay a few days ago we attended the outstanding La Fabuleuse production, so, unless there happened to be a pressing matter, there was no need to get off the Viking Sun today. Sure, a walkabout would have been nice, but with a driving rain and the howling wind plus a 4 degree temperature, non merci. Besides, the Saguenay town centre is about 2.5 miles away. Instead, we watched an Elton John documentary in the Star Cinema.
After checking the markets and completing a stock trade on the 'Net, Karen and I settled down after lunch in the Explorers Lounge for a good read. This is the premium place to relax on the ship. The Lounge has floor-to-ceiling windows with a view from a goodly height as well as hundreds of hard cover books on the shelves covering every imaginable topic. The couches and chairs are splendidly comfortable and every couch has a moosehair blanket which some folks use to cover themselves and nod off (who, me?). Importantly, the atmosphere in the Lounge is whisper quiet with muted baroqueish music playing in the background. Of course, the waiter will bring you anything you might want - a drink, food, snacks, etc.. So much personal space, almost private. Nirvana.
BTW - I have just learned that this Viking voyage will be in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest commercial cruise in the entire history of mankind...or personkind (whatever your preference).

I see that Karen is reading The Spy and The Traitor - that is a great book. Both Anne and I read it recently. We are off to Edinburgh today and hope we get better weather than you had! Cheers MB
