Day 67
NOVEMBER 5, 2019
CRUISING THE AMAZON RIVER
As you can see from the whiteboard on the ship's bridge we have left Manaus and are on our way to Recife, crossing the equator at 11:00 AM on November 7th, that's 7:00 AM Victoria time. There are 845 passengers aboard compared to a full complement of 930.
We are flying! Going up the Amazon River, fighting a 5 knot current is a sluggish process when your ship's normal speed is 15 knots. Now we have that current in our favour, so our overland speed is 20 knots, double the upstream rate - yes, the passing water is a blur.
The Chef's Table - Earlier in this voyage we had several disappointing meals there. Fellow travelers overwhelmingly confirmed this opinion. And they weren't shy to say so. Guess what? The last five times Karen and I have eaten there have been wonderful dining experiences. Something has changed, not sure what exactly, but The Chef's Table is now truly a premier site for exquisite dining - with a happy ending (as they say).
A friend sent me this video with a request that it be distributed due to its vital importance:

As we are travelling on a river it seems appropriate to share then following tune:"Leaves on the Seine" by David Lanz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqU8FpdgiZE
And if that wasn't enough, how about Chris de Burgh's "Where Peaceful Waters Flow": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xH78Q3LxM9k
